Job Purpose

To develop risk management strategies, conducting credit assessments, monitoring credit exposures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while working closely with other departments to provide insights for informed decision-making.

2 Duties:

General Duties

  • Credit Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough credit assessments of potential and existing clients, including financial statement analysis and credit scoring.
  • Evaluate the creditworthiness of borrowers and counterparties to determine risk levels and develop and maintain credit risk models and rating systems.
  • Portfolio Monitoring: Monitor and analyze the company’s credit portfolio to identify trends, concentrations, and potential risks.
  • Conduct regular stress testing and scenario analysis to evaluate the impact of adverse conditions and report on credit risk metrics and portfolio performance to senior management.
  • Approve or reject loan requests, based on credibility and potential revenues and losses.
  • Calculate and set interest rates.
  • Negotiate loan terms with financial institutions.
  • Monitor payments.
  • Maintain records of loan applications.
  • Follow up with financial institutions to manage debt settlements and loan renewals.
  • Ensure all lending procedures comply with regulations.
  • Develop, review, and update our company’s credit policies.
  • Be available to travel for business events and duties.
  • Perform administrative and ad hoc duties.

    3Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Proven work experience in credit risk management, with a proven track record.
    • Hands-on experience with accounting software.
    • Solid understanding of lending procedures.

    4Skills:

    • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to create and process financial spreadsheets (e.g. in Excel)
    • Good negotiation skills
    • Strong understanding of credit risk assessment methodologies and financial analysis.
    • Proficient in risk management software and tools.
    • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to credit risk.

    5Departmental Relations:

    • Maintains contact with all departments.

    6External Relations:

    • Maintains contact with clients, potential clients.
    • Maintains contact with financial institutions, credit rating agencies

    7Responsibility for Assets:

    • Credit risk assets and tools
    • Company equipment including computers and mobile devices

    8Salary:

    • GHS 5,000 – GHS 7,000
