Job PurposeThe Financial Consultant will inspect, review, prepare and report on financial transactions and budgetary controls for clients and analyze past financial performance to predict future performance for business security and astute financial strategizing.

2 Duties:

General Duties:

  • Analyzes business and financial data.
  • Examines assigned financial records and statements for accuracy.
  • Makes recommendations as appropriate to improve accuracy, efficiency, and to reduce costs of operations.
  • Inspects the budget and general ledger for assigned clients and accounts, ensuring that funds are available, and expenditures are assigned correctly.
  • Reviews and assists with preparation of financial statements and annual financial reports for federal, state, and internal auditors and similar personnel.
  • Assists with accounting duties for and makes corrections to listed financial records.
  • Identifies and recommends updates to accounting systems and procedures.

3 Departmental and External Relations:

Departmental Relations:

  • Maintains contact with all departmental managers and consultants.
  • Maintains contact with workers of the consulting firm.

External Relations:

  • Maintains contact with all client officials, departmental managers and consultants on finance related matters.
  • Maintains contact with statutory bodies, authorities, departments and relevant professional groups.
  • Maintains contact with financial institutions and houses.
  • Maintains contact with investment entities locally and internationally.

4 Competencies:

Qualifications:

  • Professional certification – ACCA certified.
  • Minimum two years of professional experience as an accountant or auditor. Ability to sign off financial statements preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.

Technical Competencies:

  • Expert knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.
  • Thorough understanding of methods of systems analysis and the principles, design, and procedural methods used in big data analysis.

Managerial Competency:

  • Ability to plan, coordinate and follow up to monitor people and work activities.
  • Ability to plan and implement control systems for the consulting firm and its clients.
  • Ability to demonstrate self-leadership and motivate teammates and clients where required.
