Job PurposeTo manage and lead the legal support function by providing documentation, research, and other legal services. Will coordinate the implementation of legally compliant systems to provide business security.

2 Duties:

General Duties:

  • Originates practices and objectives that provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture.
  • Crafts policies, procedures, and organizational documents.
  • Works collectively with a team of consultants on projects and reports to the Principal Consultant.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Supervises and counsels staff.
  • Trains staff regarding procedures and information systems.
  • Recruits and assists in hiring non-attorney and attorney employees.

Other Duties:

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Departmental Relations:

  • Maintains contact with all departmental managers and consultants on human resource-related matters.
  • Maintains contact with all other workers of the consulting firm.

External Relations:

  • Maintains contact with all client officials, departmental managers, and consultants on human resource-related matters.
  • Maintains contact with labor departments, professional groups, and statutory bodies.

3 Competencies:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law from an accredited university with sixty (60) hours of legal college work required.
  • Paralegal certification required.
  • At least six years of progressively responsible experience in the provision of legal services in a reputable law firm or the legal department of an international or leading organization with at least one year of supervisory or lead responsibility.

Technical Competencies:

  • Strong technical legal and commercial skills including experience in contracting, commercial law, and financial crimes law.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work with others and manage multiple time-sensitive matters in a demanding organization.

Managerial Competency:

  • Ability to plan, coordinate and follow up to monitor people and work activities.
  • Ability to plan and implement control systems for the consulting firm and its clients.

Personality Competencies:

  • Assertiveness – ability to articulate views, decisions, and policies and stick to them where necessary.
  • Trustworthiness – ability to conduct self in a manner that elicits trust, respect, and confidence of clients.
